After several weeks of intense competition and heartfelt performances, Victory Gbakara and Precious Mac have emerged as the final two contestants in the eighth season of Nigerian Idol. The journey to this point has been filled with excitement and emotions. On Sunday night, the latest episode showcased the top two finalists, Victory and Precious Mac, while Quest bid a bittersweet farewell, missing out on the chance to win the remarkable ₦100 million in prizes.

Throughout the Live Show, which commenced on May 28, a staggering 32 million votes were recorded, bringing the total number of votes to an impressive 132 million.

The tension was palpable during the Sunday live show as the charismatic host, IK Osakiodua, announced that Victory and Precious Mac would go head-to-head in a battle for victory and the coveted title in the upcoming grand finale. Quest, graciously acknowledging the support she received from her fans until the Top 3, expressed her gratitude and assured everyone that her journey was far from over, promising even greater things to come.

With Quest’s departure, Victory and Precious Mac took the stage, captivating the judges, the studio audience, and viewers at home with their remarkable live performances. The contestants delivered a triple dose of entertainment, showcasing their talent and versatility in three rounds: the judges’ choice, the contestant’s choice, and a rendition of selected songs.

In the first round, titled “How It Should Have Been Done,” Precious Mac delivered a soulful rendition of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep.” The performance left a lasting impression, earning praise from the judges. On the other hand, Victory took the opportunity to showcase his mentoring skills by guiding Apollos, a fellow contestant from the audition stage, on how James Brown’s “This Is A Man’s World” should be executed. Simi, one of the judges, lauded Victory’s performance as “sexy as hell.”

The second round, known as “The Judges’ Favourite,” commenced with Precious Mac’s rendition of Shania Twain’s “From This Moment.” Her powerful vocals and stage presence were hailed by D’Banj, who referred to her as a “real superstar,” while Simi praised her impeccable vocal control. Victory, in turn, performed Nicole C. Mullen’s “My Redeemer Lives,” a song personally chosen for him by D’Banj. Victory not only showcased his potential as a music superstar but also demonstrated his deeply rooted faith, turning the performance into an awe-inspiring gospel concert that brought the studio audience to a moment of heartfelt praise.

She then performed “Overloading” by Ayra Star and Crayon, receiving stellar reviews from the judges, who applauded her for capturing the essence and vibe of Afrobeats songs.

Likewise, Victory relived his initial audition before delivering an energetic rendition of Harry Styles’ “As It Was.” The judges praised his infectious positivity, with D’Banj referring to him as a “Light Warrior.”
