1) Bola Tinubu, the incoming president, declared yesterday that he is prepared for the obligations that come with being Nigeria’s number 1 citizen. Tinubu made this statement shortly after arriving home from a month-long stay in Paris, France.

 

2) On Monday, the Federal Government acknowledged that Ethiopian authorities had refused admission to some Nigerian students who were fleeing the turmoil in Sudan, but added that the problem was being handled. The FG stressed that it was perilous for the students to have set out on such a trek, but added that Nigerian authorities in Ethiopia were dealing with the situation since they had asked permission for the fleeing students.

 

3) According to the Labour Party (LP) leadership, no agreement has been reached with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma. Chief Innocent Okekem, the National Vice Chairman for the South East of the LP, provided the clarification yesterday in response to a viral video suggesting that Uzodimma may have influenced Senator Athan Achonu’s selection as the party’s candidate for governor in the upcoming election in order to benefit himself.

 

4) Former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate for the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi said on Monday in Awka that he had no need to take a break after the 2023 presidential campaigns and the election that followed. He claimed that those who had to take a break had good reason for doing so.

 

5) At the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square in Owerri, Governor Hope Uzodimma met four House of Representative members who switched parties to the All Progressive Congress (APC) alongside more over 3,000 of their supporters. This will happen before the state’s governor election on November 11.

 

6) Ten days after they killed hundreds, injured thousands, and caused a large-scale evacuation of foreigners, the warring generals in Sudan agreed to a 72-hour ceasefire beginning on Tuesday, according to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

 

7) According to reports, two people who were allegedly responsible for a Saturday thunder strike at Ikyve in the Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State were buried alive by enraged youths. Yesterday, the incidence was confirmed by SP Sewuese Anene of the state police public relations office.

 

8) On Monday, the Enugu State Police Command announced that a 24-year-old man named Agbo Onuabuchi had been held in the Enugu Custodial Centre for the murder and shallow grave burial of his buddy Peter Ukekwe, 44. At a press conference in Enugu, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the state police public relations officer, revealed this.

 

9) Taraba people to whom Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku may have infringed throughout his eight-year rule have received an apology from him. Ishaku apologised during a service of thanksgiving held at the CAN Secretariat in Jalingo and sponsored by the Taraba State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

 

10) Chief David Obadofin, the traditional chief of Aghara in Kogi State’s Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, is said to have passed away 12 days after his kidnappers took him hostage. A family member claimed Wednesday that the monarch passed away last Thursday after being tortured by his captors.
