1) Presidency Debunks Reports of Buhari’s alleged Plan to Notnhand over to Bola Tinubu

 

The Presidency stated on Friday that President Muhammadu Buhari never stated that he would not hand over power to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In a statement, the Senior Special Assistant to the President for Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, condemned the “fake news brigade” for spreading a false quote attributed to President Buhari.

2) CBN confirms Disbursement of Notes to DMB

As part of a coordinated effort to ease the circulation of banknotes of various denominations, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has confirmed the evacuation of banknotes from its vaults to commercial banks throughout the country. Additionally, the CBN has ordered all commercial banks to be operational on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) states that it is currently investigating two ministries in which double payments for identical contracts were made. Abdulrasheed Bawa, chairman of the EFCC, stated that one of the ministries was involved in twenty contract frauds totaling N4 billion.

On Friday, the Supreme Court disproved the claim that the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Olukayode Ariwoola, snuck out of the country and met with the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, in London.

Alhaji Usman Suleiman (anmadamin Isa), a prominent Sokoto philanthropist, member of the Sokoto State Executive Council, and commissioner of religious affairs, has passed away. Danmadamin Isa, 72, passed away in the late hours of Friday at the Usumanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital following a brief illness.

A youth leader and four others were reportedly killed in a recent attack by suspected armed herdsmen on two communities in the Agatu and Otukpo Local Government Areas of the state of Benue. Atakpa in Agatu LGA, where four people were killed, and Iwili in Otukpo LGA, where a local farmer was reportedly killed in his farm around the same time in an unprovoked attack, were affected by the most recent incidents.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has dispelled rumours that it has suspended a member of its National Working Committee, NWC, and Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Murtala Yakubu Ajaka. Danjuma Sani Ejika, one of the signatories of the aforementioned suspension letter, reportedly passed away in 2022.
