1) Court Cases Trail Ogun, Kano guber
Candidates who lost Saturday’s election for governor and their supporters protested the results and threatened to fight them in court yesterday. Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, supporters demonstrated in the states of Ogun and Nasarawa, while the All Progressives Congress in Kano State handed the Independent National Electoral Commission seven days to declare the state’s governorship election inconclusive.
2) Osun Electoral Tribunal to Consider National petitions
The Electoral Petitions Tribunal in Osun State, which will consider complaints arising from the National and state Assembly elections, has received no less than 14 applications, while its equivalent in Oyo State has received 20 petitions.
3) LP, PDP, Others Petition Election Tribunal to nullify Tinubu’s Victory
On Tuesday, four presidential candidates filed separate cases with the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja, Nigeria, seeking to overturn the declaration of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress as the victor of the presidential election held on February 25. Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Solomon Okangbuan of the Action Alliance, and Chichi Ojei of the Allied People’s Movement are the petitioners.
4) INEC Break Silence on Abia Guber election result
The Independent National Electoral Commission has disputed a report that accused its chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, of attempting to manipulate the results of the governorship election in Abia State. In a statement released on Tuesday, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, said that the only communication issued to the state Returning Officer was the commission’s request to halt further collation of results.
