NJC Recommends Retirement of Imo Chief Judge, Yobe Grand Kadi Over Age Falsification.
The National Judicial Council (NJC) has ordered the compulsory retirement of the Chief Judge of Imo State, Justice T. E. Chukwuemeka Chikeka, and the Grand Kadi of Yobe State, Kadi Babagana Mahdi, over falsification of their ages.
Chikeka was ordered to refund three years’ salary, while Mahdi was directed to refund twelve years’ salary
The decision was reached during the council’s 107th meeting, held between November 13 and 14, according to a statement by NJC spokesperson, Kemi Babalola-Ogedengbe.

Disciplinary Actions Taken Against Other Judges
In addition to the retirements, the NJC also suspended Justice G. C. Aguma of the Rivers State High Court. He has been barred from performing judicial duties for one year without pay and has been placed on a “watch-list” for two additional years.
Similarly, Justice A. O. Nwabunike of the Anambra State High Court was suspended for one year without pay and placed on a “watch-list” for two years thereafter.

NJC’s Assessment of Petitions
The NJC reviewed the report from its Preliminary Complaints Assessment Committee, which examined a total of 30 petitions.
NJC Recommends Sack of Popular Judge, Issues Warning to Another
The council empanelled six committees for further investigation and dismissed 22 petitions for lack of merit. Two petitions were found to be sub judice and were also dismissed.
