NLC Debunks News of Nationwide Strike, Gives New update

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has unequivocally debunked the claims. In a statement released on Sunday, Benson Upah, the NLC’s Head of Information and Public Affairs, clarified that the information circulating on social media was fraudulent and urged Nigerians to disregard it.

The statement emphasized that there is no intention whatsoever within the body to initiate any form of strike action.

The notice in question, purportedly signed by the General Secretary of NLC and Secretary General of TUC, Comrades Emmanuel Ugboaja, and Nuhu Toro, respectively, was explicitly disowned by both unions.

“We want to reassure Nigerians that this notice did not emanate from us, and neither do we have any intention of initiating any strike action this period”.

It further urged concerned citizens to dismiss the notice as entirely baseless and fake.

With the alleged strike set to commence on Monday, December 18, the union’s swift response aims to dispel any potential panic or misinformation among the public.

The union remains committed to transparent communication and affirmed that their organization did not issue any such notice.
