NLC Issues Final Ultimatum to Abia Government, Plans Indefinite Strike from July 15
Abia State, Nigeria — The organized labour in Abia State has issued a final ultimatum to the state government, threatening to commence an indefinite strike on July 15 due to alleged non-payment of the N30,000 minimum wage and a N35,000 palliative award.
Despite promises from Governor Alex Otti to implement the new wages following the Federal Government’s negotiations with organized labour, the workers remain unsatisfied.

In a letter dated July 8, 2024, and signed by Okoro Ogbonnaya, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Abia State, and Enogwe Ihechi, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) Chairman, the organized labour communicated their intentions to Governor Otti through his Chief of Staff.
