Nnamani to Obi: Withdraw your petition, join Tinubu for new Nigeria

Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, former governor of Enugu, on Sunday urged the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi to withdraw his petition against President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu and join him in the task of building a new nation.

In a statement released in Abuja, Nnamani urged Obi and his supporters to join the jubilation and camaraderie that greeted Tinubu’s election as president of the largest black nation.

He stated that Obi is aware that he lacks the breadth and national appeal necessary to win the presidential election, stating that Obi’s petition is “bad manners, petulance, and demarketing.”

“His Petition is ineffective upon arrival. He lacks the reach and appeal of a national figure. His appeal to non-electoral matters is intended to discredit the incoming president and tarnish his reputation.”

Nnamani reaffirmed that Obi “does not have widespread support and national appeal. His petition is egotistical and the joke has gone too far. His emphasis on non-electoral issues is an attempt to embarrass the incoming president.

Nnamani advised, “Obi needs to get off his high horse so that reasonable minds can negotiate on behalf of the Igbo and South East for a safe landing that includes our stake in the national Palavar and share of the gains of the commonwealth.”

According to Nnamani, we must join the mainstream and contribute to the creation of a new Nigeria. We will not travel anywhere. We are prepared to decamp and negotiate for our own share. It is common knowledge that others conduct themselves similarly.

“Igbo must now face reality or be relegated to the margins of history. Now is the time for alignment.”
