The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has disclosed that it bought petrol at ₦898 per litre from the Dangote Refinery, refuting earlier reports that suggested a lower price.

In a statement provided to *Daily Trust* on Sunday, Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Spokesperson of the NNPCL, clarified the price discrepancy. “We successfully loaded PMS at the Dangote Refinery today. The claim that we purchased it at ₦760 per litre is incorrect. For this initial loading, the price from the refinery was ₦898 per litre,” Soneye said.

This development comes as the NNPCL mobilized about 300 trucks to the refinery in Lagos, which has a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day. Loading operations began on Sunday, with over 70 trucks loaded as of the time of the report.

The clarification from the NNPCL is expected to further shape public discourse on petrol pricing, especially as the nation continues to adjust to the realities of the post-subsidy era.
