Lucky Aiyedatiwa, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has emerged victorious in the Ondo State governorship election, polling 366,781 votes. He defeated Ajayi Agboola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 117,845 votes.
President Bola Tinubu, on Sunday, extended his congratulations to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa following his triumph in the recently concluded poll. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Aiyedatiwa winner, confirming the APC’s dominance in the state.

In his message, President Tinubu called on aggrieved candidates from other political parties to seek redress through the judicial system rather than resorting to disruptive measures. Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, conveyed Tinubu’s stance, emphasizing the importance of following legal avenues for any electoral grievances.
Tinubu also lauded the maturity displayed by Aiyedatiwa and other candidates from the 17 political parties during the campaign period and the election itself. He attributed the success of the election to the peaceful conduct seen across the state.
The President expressed satisfaction with INEC’s performance, highlighting the agency’s efficient handling of the electoral process. He praised the early deployment of staff and election materials, as well as the prompt uploading of over 98% of results on the same day, affirming the credibility of the electoral exercise.
Tinubu also commended the security agencies for their roles in ensuring a peaceful election, further reinforcing the faith of the public in the electoral process.
