Notorious Bandit Leader Behind Abduction of 121 Bethel Baptist Students Killed in Fierce Kaduna Clash

Kachalla Tukur Sharme, a notorious bandit leader responsible for the abduction of 121 students from Bethel Baptist High School in Kaduna State three years ago, has reportedly been killed. Sharme and several other criminals were killed in a violent clash with a rival gang, as confirmed by the Kaduna State government.

The deadly confrontation took place over the weekend in the ‘Hambakko’ area, located within the Rijana and Kaso Forests, which span across Kachia, Chikun, and Kajuru local government areas. Intelligence reports revealed that five criminals were wounded and are now hiding in the area, seeking medical attention for their injuries.

Sharme, notorious for orchestrating attacks, killings, and kidnappings across Kaduna and neighboring states, was a long-standing target for security forces. His criminal activities spread terror in regions like Millenium City, Maraban Rido, and several villages in Kachia, Kagarko, and Birnin Gwari.

In a statement, the Kaduna State government highlighted Sharme’s role in the abduction of the Bethel Baptist students on July 5, 2021. The statement further urged residents in affected areas not to assist any suspicious individuals seeking treatment for gunshot wounds and to promptly report them to the nearest security forces.
