Obasanjo has slammed Bola Tinubu for saying “Emi Lokan”
Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has said it’s wrong attitude and mentality for someone in Nigeria to say “Emi Lokan”.
Recall that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, had claimed that he was the next person to become the President of Nigeria, saying, “Emi Lokan” in English meaning “It is my turn.”
Tinubu said in Abeokuta in April last year during his campaign for APC presidential primary election.
But the former president on Sunday condemned the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, for saying ’Emi Lokan’.
In a letter on Sunday, Obasanjo said: “Let me say straight away that ‘Emi Lokan’ (My turn) and ‘I have paid my dues’ are one and the same thing and are wrong attitude and mentality for the leadership of Nigeria now.”
Those claims, according to Obasanjo, “cannot form the new pedestal to reinvent and to invest in a new Nigeria based on an All-Nigeria Government for the liberation and restoration of Nigeria.”
Obasanjo said no individual can claim he has the absolute solutions to Nigeria’s problems, stating that “the solution should be in ‘we’ and ‘us’ and not in ‘me’ and ‘I’.”
Meanwhile, the former president officially endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, as his candidate for the 2023 election.

According to Obasanjo, Obi has the edge over every other candidate in the race, saying he has people to call him to order when there is a need for that.
