In a significant move, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Okpe Union worldwide has expressed commendation for the performance and competence of Delta State Governor, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori. Prominent Okpe leaders gathered, appraising the positive impact of Governor Oborevwori on the lives of the people during the NEC meeting.
The leaders urged the citizens of Delta State to support Governor Oborevwori’s administration, acknowledging the distractions faced, including numerous court cases, before obtaining the approval of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

In a statement addressing the educational development of Okpe Kingdom, the leaders lauded Governor Oborevwori for addressing the educational needs of the state. They particularly commended his decision to assess the deficit of public institutions in Orerokpe, one of the oldest administrative centers in the country.
The statement also addressed the reported planned relocation of some programs of the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, expressing concern over disruptive reactions from various quarters, especially from the Isoko areas of the state.
The Okpe leaders suggested a comprehensive University of Education to be established in Orerokpe, emphasizing its central location in the state and accessibility to various areas. They also urged the completion of the Sapele Polytechnic, emphasizing the historical neglect of Orerokpe and Sapele.
The leaders acknowledged the historical template of senatorial and ethnic balancing in the siting of public institutions in Delta State since 1999. They called for a reevaluation of the planned policy and appealed for understanding and calm among all stakeholders.
