Yunusa Tanko, spokesperson for the LP presidential campaign council in the 2023 election, responded to the rumors on his social media account, labeling the claims as fake news. Reports had circulated that Akpata had consulted with party stakeholders and decided to collapse his campaign structure to support Ighodalo.
Tanko urged the public to disregard the fabricated statement, emphasizing discrepancies in its content. He pointed out that the alleged withdrawal letter was dated September 20 but signed on July 29, calling it an “unintelligent” attempt to mislead voters.
He asserted, “Fake News! Fake News!! Fake News!!! They are used to stealing people’s votes. Every day for the thief, one day for the owner of the house.”
As the gubernatorial election approaches, the LP remains committed to its candidate and continues to challenge any attempts to misrepresent its position.
