“We give the deputy governor a seven-day ultimatum to come clean and publicly apologize to his wife. Failure to do so will result in massive action against him,” the statement read.

However, in a statement released through his media aide, Mr Kenneth Odusola, the deputy governor claimed he had never raised his hand to his wife since their marriage.

Aiyedatiwa, who described the women’s group as faceless, stated that the media report claiming he assaulted and abused his wife was unfounded and false.

The statement read, “The said allegation of domestic abuse is a figment of the imagination of those behind it. Their ungodly intentions to cause a crisis in the state had been known for weeks, so this falsehood was not unexpected.

“While His Excellency reserves the right to privacy on family matters, it is important to state unequivocally that there has never been any domestic violence between the Deputy Governor and his lovely wife, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, who is currently outside the country’s borders.

“It is no secret that Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa lived and worked in the United Kingdom for many years before her husband became an elected public official in Nigeria. Since then, she has been commuting between the United Kingdom and Nigeria to care for the home and the children, who are also in the United Kingdom.

“Therefore, any report of alleged domestic issues within the family should be viewed as the work of enemies of the state intent on creating a crisis where none exists, and we warn those spreading such falsehood to stop or face the consequences.”
