Controversial Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has made a startling revelation, claiming that he never spent a day behind bars during his prison sentence in 2024 for naira abuse.

According to the recording, Bobrisky stated that his “godfather” arranged for him to stay in a lodge rather than serve time in the correctional facility.

Bobrisky admitted in the recording that officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) were paid ₦15 million to drop money laundering charges against him. He went on to reveal that prison authorities placed him in a lodge for the duration of his sentence, instructing him to remain out of sight and not disclose the special arrangement.

Bobrisky was initially arrested in April 2024 by the EFCC in Lagos and sentenced to six months without the option of a fine for violating the Central Bank of Nigeria’s naira policy. After serving over four months of his sentence, Bobrisky was reportedly released from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre on August 5, 2024.

The viral recording has reignited conversations about corruption and favoritism in Nigeria’s justice system.
