In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Segun Tomori, Dr. Alake revealed that his allocation will be directed primarily towards elderly citizens, highlighting the importance of prioritizing the most vulnerable populations during these challenging times.

“We must reach out to our elderly fathers and mothers to show our commitment to caring for the aged in our communities,” Dr. Alake said, noting the difficulties older citizens face in accessing food distribution centers.

He added that future distributions would extend to other vulnerable groups, including widows, orphans, persons with disabilities, and students. This effort is part of the federal government’s broader strategy to address the country’s economic difficulties, worsened by inflation and other economic pressures.

In a related development, the federal government has distributed 740 trucks of rice, each carrying 1,200 bags, to all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. State governments are responsible for ensuring that the rice reaches the most vulnerable citizens in their respective regions.

Dr. Alake also called on well-meaning Nigerians to join the relief efforts, stressing the importance of collective action in combating hunger and poverty across the nation.
