At the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), Ibrahim Hamza, a witness of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has claimed that the candidate of the Labour Party (LP) did not win in Nasarawa State and that he signed the election results of Nasarawa State under duress. This revelation was made on Monday during the proceedings.

A witness made a statement during the ongoing hearing of the petition that Atiku Abubakar and his party, the PDP, filed.

An objection has been issued against the results of the February 25th presidential election, which declared Bola Tinubu as the duly elected president.

In a recent petition marked CA/PEPC/05/2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), President Bola Tinubu, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been named as respondents.

The PDP has called upon its 10th witness in the ongoing proceedings, who has identified himself as a human resources consultant. This witness has stated that he represented the PDP as the Nasarawa collation officer.

During cross-examination by Abubakar Mahmoud, counsel for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the witness claimed that he had signed the results under duress.

”I did not state this in my witness declaration of oath because I knew a day like this would come.

”The results were modified after I appended my name and signed.

”Due process was not followed… I had to sign to obtain a copy of the results because there was this intimidation that if I did not sign, I would not be given the result,” he said.

According to his statement, he cast his vote, but the BVAS malfunctioned, resulting in the failure to upload the election results.

During cross-examination by Akin Olujimi SAN, counsel for Tinubu, Abiye Sekibo, the 7th witness (PW7), revealed that the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System failed to capture the results from polling units across the state.

The State Collation Officer for Rivers State in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is Sekibo.

According to his statement, he visited several polling units where the results could not be uploaded.

The witness acknowledged that their candidate failed to secure more than 25% of the votes in the Federal Capital Territory.

The 9th witness (PW9), Abraham David, took the stand and testified as the FCT collation officer. According to David, his candidate failed to secure 25% of the votes in the FCT.

The eighth witness (PW8) to testify was Mohammed Madaki, who serves as the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

A five-person panel under the direction of Justice Haruna Tsammani postponed the petition hearing until tomorrow.

During the pre-hearing session, PDP to  the presidential election tribunal panel that they plan to call 100 witnesses to substantiate their petition.
