Peter Obi, the candidate for the Labour Party, may win the state’s presidential election on February 25, 2023, according to Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra.

This was said by Soludo in an interview that aired on the political program Politics Today on Channels Television on Thursday, monitored by our correspondent.

I hope Peter Obi has the best of luck,” he said. Let him compete like everyone else.

“APGA is taking part in the same race. We have our own candidate, Peter Umeadi, who happens to be from Anambra State as well and is a son of the soil. He will do his own part and garner his own support.

The governor cited a piece he wrote in November 2022 in which he predicted that Obi might win in Anambra but would lose the presidential race overall.

“In that piece, I even thought that Peter Obi might win in Anambra State,” he claimed. I did make that mention.

But Soludo questioned Obi’s chances of triumphing in the upcoming general presidential election.

In addition, Governor Soludo, the new national leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), claimed that he had provided former governor Obi with all the assistance a state government could give to someone who served in that position from 2006 to 2014.

The governor of Anambra claimed to have treated all political parties fairly and to have allowed them to hold rallies at state facilities.

Recall that Obi and Soludo had a disagreement regarding the economy and investments of Anambra.

The investments Obi left in government, according to Soludo, the governor of Anambra, are practically worthless.

He claimed that Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress are the “two persons/parties seriously contesting for president” in the 2023 presidential election, making it impossible for Obi to prevail.

But in response, Obi said he only did what he could as governor of Anambra and urged Soludo to do his best as an economics professor in the state.

Following their argument, the two met at a public event in Awka, where they hugged, in what many have referred to as a “reconciliation move.”
