Peter Obi Reacts As Buhari Approves Postponement Of 2023 Census, calls it a positive development
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate for president in the most recent election, praised President Muhammadu Buhari for delaying the national census.
Earlier reports indicated that President Muhammadu Buhari approved the postponement of the 2023 National Population and Housing Census between May 3 and May 7 on Saturday.

The activity was delayed until a date determined by the incoming administration.
Peter Obi stated that the postponement was a positive development.
“The decision by the FGN to postpone the 2023 Population and Housing Census, originally scheduled for 3-7 May 2023, to a date to be determined by the incoming administration is a favourable and welcome development. The national census is a crucial tool for national development and nation-building.

Even though a census is long overdue in Nigeria, conducting one requires proper planning and diligence to ensure the sanctity of the results, the efficacy of the data gathered, and their utility in driving national development goals.
“Our standard of living and growing national housing shortages. “It is hoped that when the census is eventually conducted, it will be accompanied by confidence-building measures as opposed to the usual controversy,” he tweeted.
