The post was made in response to something Peter Okoye said during a recent fight with Seun Kuti, a Nigerian musician.
Peter Okoye had said that he was famous even though his father was a “nobody.” He then dared Seun Kuti to drop his last name and see if anyone would still know him.
Basketmouth responded on Twitter by saying, “If our fathers had never been born, we wouldn’t be here. No one makes it on their own.” He added, “I’m just saying.”

Many of the comedian’s fans said that he didn’t understand what Peter Okoye was trying to say in his post, which was widely criticized.
Even though people are upset, Basketmouth hasn’t said anything yet to explain where he stands on the issue.
