Umar, a 16-year-old boy, was taken into custody by the Yobe state police for Allegedly insulting Governor Mai Mala Buni.
The young boy was detained for allegedly insulting Mai Mala Buni, the governor of Yobe State, on social media.

The child’s father, Garba Isa, revealed this on December 19 when he appeared in public to call for his son’s release.
Isa claims that his son was detained in Nguru on December 11 and later delivered to the State Investigation Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Damaturu, the administrative centre of Yobe State.

I am sorry about what my son did. I am just a regular laundry man, and what my son (Umar) did was completely wrong.
I fervently implore Governor Mai Mala Buni and the police to pardon my son and let him go. Isa, a laudry employee, spoke to newsmen.
State Commissioner of Police Garba Haruna confirmed the arrest and stated that the minor is currently being held and will be brought to court once the investigation is complete.

“He will unquestionably face charges in court when we are finished with our investigation. The society needs to be sanitised because people are using social media to disparage and taint the character of others.

Governor Mai Mala Buni Responds
The governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni, reacted by ordering the teenager who had been detained by the police for allegedly making fun of the state’s top official be released right away.
Announcing that it was completely unnecessary to arrest anyone for disparaging or criticising him, Governor Buni, who is unaware of the arrest and detention, said.

“This is the cost of leadership, and we are fully aware of it. As a result, I could not have given an order or given my approval for anyone to be detained.
Governor Buni stated, “I was not aware of his arrest and detention until someone called my attention to it; I have since ordered his immediate release from detention.
