Sgt. Ekpo Shimuyere, who was attached to Sogunle Division, has been dismissed by the Police Command in Lagos State for extorting a young man of N98,000.
According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the command, the dismissed sergeant has already been disrobed by the Provost Department of the command. This information was shared with newsmen on Wednesday.

As per his statement, the sergeant who was fired took the phone of his victim and used a POS machine to transfer N98,000 from the young man’s bank account, which had a total of N100,000.
According to Hundeyin, the policeman’s action went against the professional ethics of their job.
The victim reported the crime to the police and the officer denied the accusation when contacted. He was placed under detention by command to prevent him from tampering with the evidence.

We obtained the statement of account by writing to his bank. The money was traced to the location where the POS operator transferred it before it was transferred to the officer’s account.
