Police Command Oyo State: The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway kidnapping of travellers on Friday resulted in the death of one of their number and the injury of another, according to the Oyo State Command.
This was said by the command in a statement released on Saturday by its spokesperson, Adewale Osifeso.

He claimed that when police heard gunshots at the incident scene, the DPO attached to the Toll Gate Ibadan directed them to the spot.
The statement made no mention of whether or whether any people had been kidnapped, although Col. Olayinka Olayanju (ret.), the Commandant of Amotekun in Oyo State, had earlier told our correspondent that the kidnapping attempt had been thwarted by some security personnel.
“On Friday, October 28, 2022, at or around 1835HRS, members of the command attached to the Toll-Gate Division received information about sporadic gunshots heard along the Dominion University end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway,” read the police statement.
The Divisional Police Officer quickly organized a team made up of local hunters, tactical teams, police mobile personnel, and anti-crime patrol personnel to provide immediate assistance and subsequent assistance.

The Deputy Commissioner in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department is leading the Charge.
“Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Williams, has ordered full-scale scientific and technologically assisted Investigations to unravel the events that led to the incident.
The same goes for caregivers, traditional healers, and local residents both inside and outside the shooting incident’s area.
They are urged to keep an eye out for gunshot victims and to report any unusual activity to the police right away so that it can be investigated.
