Thaddeus Atta, the Member of the House of Representatives representing Eti-Osa Federal Constituency in the 10th Assembly, has sparked speculation about his potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Atta, who hails from Benue State, contested and won his seat under the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections.

The rumour mill was set ablaze when Atta was recently seen wearing the signature cap associated with President Bola Tinubu, a common symbol of support for the president’s party, APC.
The photo, shared by Atta on his X page, has fueled discussions that he may be preparing to join the APC, although he has not officially confirmed his plans.
In his post, Atta expressed gratitude to the people of Eti-Osa Federal Constituency for their support, saying, “We can only justify the confidence of our people by keeping faith with our duties.”
He added, “Let me once again thank my great people of Eti Osa Federal Constituency, for this privilege to serve. The task of good governance has begun.”
Despite the growing speculation, Atta has refrained from making an official statement regarding his party affiliation, leaving many to wonder if he will follow in the footsteps of several opposition lawmakers who have recently defected to the APC.
Notable defections in recent months include Hon. Chris Nkwonta of Abia State, who switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, Hon. Abubakar Gumi from Zamfara State, who also moved from the PDP to the APC, and Hon. Salman Idris from Kogi State, who left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the APC.
