Emir of Tikau, Alhaji Muhammadu Abubakar Ibn-Grema, Passes Away at 70.
The city of Damaturu, capital of Yobe State in northern Nigeria, has been thrown into mourning following the death of the Emir of Tikau, Alhaji Muhammadu Abubakar Ibn-Grema. The Emir’s younger brother, Alhaji Abubakar Talba, confirmed the news to journalists on Saturday, May 11.

According to Talba, a prince of the Tikau Emirate Council, the Emir died in Potiskum on Friday at around 4 pm after a brief illness. He was over 70 years old at the time of his death.
The late Emir, a first-class chief, will be buried at 4 pm on Saturday in accordance with Islamic rites. His palace is located in Nangere Local Government Area, and he was the paramount ruler of the Karekare people.

Emir Ibn-Grema was installed as the Emir of Tikau on July 25, 2001, and spent 23 years on the throne before his demise. His long reign saw significant developments and progress in the emirate, and he was widely respected for his wisdom and leadership.
The Emir’s death has sent shockwaves throughout the region, with many mourning the loss of a beloved and revered leader. His legacy and contributions to the development of the emirate will be remembered for years to come.
