In a significant political development, Odefa Obasi Odefa, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The move, accompanied by approximately 500 supporters from Onicha East Constituency, was made public during a visit to the Government House in Abakaliki, where they met with Governor Ogbonnaya Nwifuru.
Odefa Obasi Odefa, while explaining his decision to join the APC, emphasized his commitment to supporting Governor Nwifuru’s transformative agenda for the state.
He cited the governor’s commendable intentions, as outlined in the People’s Charter of Needs manifesto, as a driving force behind his defection.

During the visit, Odefa expressed his belief that aligning with the APC would enable him to actively contribute to the positive changes envisioned by Governor Nwifuru. He conveyed his confidence in the governor’s leadership and vision for Ebonyi State.
In response, Governor Nwifuru welcomed Odefa and his supporters to the APC, stating that the party’s doors are open to individuals with sincere and well-intentioned commitments to the progress of the state. The governor appreciated Odefa’s decision and expressed optimism about the collaborative efforts that would unfold within the party.
