The accused individuals, charged with kidnapping Ahmad and reportedly demanding a ransom of N1 million for his release after 20 days in captivity, have faced the consequences of their actions.

Justice Adenike Akinpelu, in delivering the judgment, emphasized that the trio, by engaging in a conspiracy to commit the crime, were equally culpable, regardless of whether they were physically present at the scene of the abduction.

She underscored that the convicts had orchestrated the kidnapping, claiming their victim was a kidnap suspect, with the intention of extorting money from him.

Expressing her dismay, Justice Akinpelu highlighted the betrayal of trust by community leaders charged with the welfare of their subjects.

She lamented that the pursuit of financial gain led the convicts to compromise the security of the very community they were meant to protect. Consequently, the court found them guilty as charged and sentenced them to life imprisonment.

This ruling serves as a stern warning against crimes of this nature, sending a clear message that those who betray the trust placed in them to safeguard their communities will face severe consequences. The Kwara State High Court’s decision underscores the commitment to upholding justice and maintaining the security and well-being of the citizens.
