Presidency Redefines Daniel Bwala’s Role After Claiming Tinubu’s Spokesman Title
The presidency has clarified the role of Daniel Bwala after his public claim of being President Bola Tinubu’s official spokesman.
During his inaugural media briefing at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Bwala referred to himself as the president’s spokesperson. However, hours later, a statement from Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, adjusted his designation.
The statement highlighted a reshuffling within the State House media team for improved communication efficiency.

According to Onanuga, “President Bola Tinubu has re-designated the positions of two recently appointed officials in the State House media and communications team to enhance efficiency.”
Role Restructuring
- Sunday Dare, initially appointed as Special Adviser on Public Communication and National Orientation, now holds the title of Special Adviser, Media and Public Communications.
- Daniel Bwala’s title has changed from Special Adviser, Media and Public Communication to Special Adviser, Policy Communication.
The presidency emphasized that no single individual serves as its spokesperson. Instead, the three advisers—Bayo Onanuga, Sunday Dare, and Daniel Bwala—will collectively represent the government’s voice.
This clarification follows the resignation of Ajuri Ngelale, the former Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, in September.
