Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has stated that Iyorchia Ayu has allegedly refused to resign as the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because he is corrupt and wants to keep managing the party’s finances.

This was said by Wike over the weekend during a press conference in Port Harcourt, the state capital of Rivers.

Insisting that it is against PDP’s constitution for the national chairman and the presidential candidate to come from the same zone, the governor and his allies have been demanding on Ayu to step down.

Ayu is from Benue (North Central), while Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential hopeful, is from Adamawa (North East).
