Rivers Commissioner, Loyal to Wike, Resigns, Joins Tinubu’s Government
Rivers Commissioner for Works Resigns to Join President Tinubu’s Administration.
Dr. George-Kelly Alabo, the Commissioner for Works in Rivers State, has tendered his resignation to join the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Alabo’s decision to step down follows his appointment by President Tinubu as the Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA).

Alabo, known for his allegiance to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, was among the commissioners who resigned their positions in the state during the crisis between Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
However, he was later reinstated into the cabinet by the Governor as part of the nine-point peace resolution brokered by President Tinubu to resolve the crisis in the state.

Despite his reinstatement, Alabo has now submitted a fresh resignation letter after accepting Tinubu’s appointment.

In his letter dated March 14th and addressed to Governor Fubara, Alabo expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve Rivers State and cited his desire to accept the appointment offered by President Tinubu.
Alabo’s letter stated, “I hereby resign my appointment as the Commissioner for Works in Rivers State to enable me to accept an appointment graciously offered to me by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I appreciate Your Excellency for the opportunity to serve my beloved Rivers State as the Commissioner for Works.
