Bandits Abduct Mobile Police Officer in Plateau State, Soldier Escapes.
In a distressing incident in Kampani, a community in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, bandits have abducted a mobile police (Mopol) officer, while a soldier accompanying him narrowly escaped. The abduction took place on Wednesday evening as the two security personnel were traveling from Zurak to Kampani.

According to local sources, the officer and the soldier were ambushed by the bandits. While the mobile police officer was captured, the soldier managed to evade the attackers and escape unharmed. The duo was reportedly part of a security team deployed to combat banditry in the areas of Bangalala, Kampani, Zurak, and other surrounding communities.
Sahapi Sambo, a youth leader in the area, confirmed the incident to The Nation Newspaper, stating that the two men were on their way to join their colleagues in Kampani when the attack occurred. The abduction has heightened concerns in the region, which has been plagued by banditry and violence.

In response to the abduction, a coordinated effort is underway to rescue the kidnapped officer. On Thursday, security forces, including soldiers, police officers, and local vigilantes, launched a manhunt for the bandits, tracking them to their hideout in hopes of securing the officer’s safe release. The situation remains tense as the search operation continues.
