Soldiers on patrol at Bajida polling unit 001 in the Fakai Local Government Area of Kebbi State reportedly shot and killed a member of the outlawed vigilante group Yansakai.
During ongoing supplementary elections in the state, the deceased was shot and killed after attempting to steal a ballot box from INEC officials.

Eyewitnesses in the area told Ejes Gist News Nigeria that the deceased allegedly entered the polling station while claiming to be a security agent.
When he was shot at the polling location, he allegedly attempted to steal a gun from a soldier.

An eyewitness stated, “He and his group rushed to the polling station in an attempt to steal the ballot box as INEC officials were transporting it to the counting centre.”
People at the polling station failed in their attempts to stop him, and another soldier shot him as he struggled to retrieve the gun from a soldier.
