The Supreme Court has fixed date to deliver judgement in the PDP suit seeking disqualification of Tinubu and Shettima.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been in a legal tussle with the All Progressives Congress (APC) since the 2023 presidential election.
The PDP had alleged that Bola Tinubu and Kassim Shettima, who were the President-elect and Vice President-elect respectively, were not qualified to contest the election.

The case was initially heard by the Federal High Court, which dismissed the PDP’s suit for lack of jurisdiction. The PDP then appealed the decision at the Court of Appeal, where Justice Abundaga led a panel that upheld the lower court’s decision.
The court held that the PDP did not have the locus standi to bring the suit since it did not participate in the APC primaries that produced Tinubu and Shettima as candidates.

Unsatisfied with the Court of Appeal’s decision, the PDP approached the Supreme Court, which has now fixed May 26 for the judgment delivery in the case. The PDP is hoping that the Supreme Court will reverse the lower court’s decision and disqualify Tinubu and Shettima from holding the office of President and Vice President respectively.
