Suspended EFCC Chairman, Bawa, Whisked Away From DSS Headquarters

Abdulrasheed Bawa, the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has been relocated from the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters in Abuja to an undisclosed private facility.

Ejes Gist News Nigeria understands that Bawa was transferred to the new facility to exert complete control over him, as he allegedly refused to cooperate with the secret police by providing statements while in their custody. Bawa reportedly argued that the DSS had no legal grounds to detain him without charging him, hence his refusal to provide any statements.

However, a source speaking to SaharaReporters on the condition of anonymity stated that Bawa had been moved from the DSS headquarters to one of their private facilities. The purpose of this relocation was to exert total control over him following his reluctance to comply with the request for statements.

 

 

Both Bawa and the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, have been detained.

Their suspensions were initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu shortly after assuming office as the successor to Muhammadu Buhari. The accusations against Bawa and Emefiele include allegations of corrupt practices and abuse of office.”
