Teenager threaten to commit sucide
On Friday, a teen named Hamza Yahaya threatened to jump to his death from the well-known Kofar Nasarawa flyover bridge in the historic city of Kano if President Muhammadu Buhari did not step down.
Hamza’s action set up a scene beneath the bridge that connects the Emir of Kano’s palace and State road, drawing the attention of onlookers who stopped to take a look.

It was assumed that the one-man protest could not be separated from the nation’s economic situation or hardship.
Hamza had to be rescued from the bridge’s pavement thanks to the assistance of firefighters.
Abdullahi Madugu, an eyewitness and a resident of Kofar Nasarawa, who confirmed the news to newsmen, said the man stormed the scene of the incident while en route to Friday Juma’at prayers.
He claims, “At around 1:30 pm, I was rushing to the Juma’at prayers when I saw a large crowd of people gathered watching a boy who had climbed the bridge (the well-known Kofar Nasarawa bridge) and made a threat to either commit suicide or demand the resignation of President Muhammadu.
“They (the nearby residents and even the firefighters) convinced him to descend, but he was adamant that he would not.I could actually hear him say it.
He is not a young child. This might be due to the circumstances of daily life.
The fire service sent out their men to rescue the boy after becoming aware of one Malam Musa (who wanders around selling clothes).
When reached, Saminu Yusif, the Kano State Fire Service’s spokesperson, refuted reports that Hamza had threatened to kill himself or demand that President Buhari resign.
“We received a distress call at 1:40 pm about Hamza Yahaya, a 25-year-old who was discovered on a bridge’s pavement.
He admitted to us that he has no idea how he got inside.
He claimed to be a resident of the Sharada area of the state and claimed to have fled their home three months ago because their neighbour had sent him on an errand with N4,000, which he had then spent.
“He is about 15 years old, so he cannot say such things (commit suicide or resign as president), but the claims were made by people in the area who invented the tale based on personal experiences.
“Our men used strategies to successfully remove the boy from the pavement. To look into the situation, we gave him to SP Rabiu Tale at the Kwalli Police Division, Yusif said.
SP Abdullahi Haruna, the spokesperson for the Kano Police Command, promised to look into the situation when our correspondent contacted him.
