In the Federal Capital Territory, joint security personnel have apprehended 30 fighters and five commanders from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

The Department of State Services (DSS), the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the Police Force (NPF), and other security services all sent operatives to capture the ISWAP members.

After the effective dismantling of their hideouts in numerous sites throughout Abuja, Mararaba, and other satellite towns in the Federal Capital Territory, the dangerous terrorists were captured.

ISWAP militants reportedly relocated to the FCT after the brutally bombed their camps and enclaves in the North-West, according to a security source.

The security source disclosed that before being apprehended by a sizable counterintelligence operation headed by the DSS, the terror suspects were preparing a significant strike in Abuja.

According to him, the alleged terrorists were being detained at a DSS facility and had already been instrumental in helping to apprehend some of their members.

The security Operatives revealed that several ISWAP members in the FCT were posing as security guards, cart pushers, and artists across the city.

To disrupt, disarm, and eliminate the ISWAP terrorists in the FCT, he declared, a massive counter-intelligence operation was in progress. We have detained numerous commanders and their foot soldiers, and they are actively assisting us with our investigations.

About 30 fighters and five leaders have so far been detained, but as our dragnet gets wider, we anticipate detaining more individuals.

When speaking on Thursday, the DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, claimed he was not aware of the alleged insurgents’ arrest.
