There is Palpable Tension After Bandits Kidnap 39 children in Katsina.
39 youngsters who were working on a farm in the Mairuwa settlement in the Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State were abducted by bandits.
This online media outlet learned that on Sunday, a group of robbers attacked the neighbourhood and proceeded to kidnap at least 39 children who were helping out on the farm.

According to reports, the assailants encircled the farm and began shooting randomly before kidnapping the labourers.
According to a source in the neighbourhood, the victims’ parents are pleading with the federal and state administrations to free their kidnapped children.
He claimed that after paying a tax of N1 million to the robbers in order to be able to collect the farm owner’s products, the farm owner’s representative mobilised the kids.

The source claimed that after the farm owner refused to give the robbers the N3m they demanded, the bandits decided to attack the farm and abduct the kids.
They demanded N3 million from the owner before he could harvest his product, and when he offered them N1 million as partial payment, he intended to start the task before they had all of the money, but sadly the bandits would not accept that.
Bandits Kidnap 39 Children
There are 33 victims total in our community of Mairuwa, including young women who are approaching marriage, the man claimed.
The tragic story was confirmed by another Mairuwa resident, who also claimed that the bandits had held the farm owner for ransom and demanded N30 million.
“The farm’s owner is a Funtua resident, but his representative lives here in Mairuwa village,” he stated. The thieves are currently requesting a N30 million ransom over the phone of one of the victims.

“They claimed to be at the farm in order to kidnap the owner or his representative, but when they did not see either of them, they changed their plans and took the workers instead.”
According to a resident of Katoge in Kankara Local Government, bandits initially demanded N2 million from his community in exchange for access to their fields, but subsequently agreed to settle for N 600,000.
“We were able to raise N400,000 and gave it to the banidts, but we still need to raise N200,000 before we can enter our farms. The situation is pretty serious here, and other nearby communities are also under danger,” he stated.
