In his inaugural speech, the President emphasized that the era of subsidies had come to an end due to the absence of budgetary allocations for such measures. Recognizing the concerns raised by Organized Labour regarding the removal of subsidies, President Tinubu shed light on his approach to convincing them to postpone their planned protests.

Addressing the issue, President Tinubu asked, “If you protest, I will join you and protest. But what exactly are you protesting about? Are you benefiting from a portion of the subsidy?” He further explained that the funds saved from the removal of subsidies were essential for the implementation of increased palliative measures and improvements in transportation.
