President Bola Tinubu has taken decisive action by ordering a thorough investigation into the alleged diversion of N37.1 billion from a humanitarian fund.

 

The announcement was made by Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, in a statement released on Sunday, January 7.

This move comes on the heels of President Tinubu’s approval for the suspension and investigation of Halima Shehu, the National Coordinator of the National Social Investment Program Agency (NSIPA). Shehu is under scrutiny for her alleged involvement in financial impropriety amounting to about N30 billion.

The Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to uncovering the truth surrounding this matter and assured the public that appropriate action would be taken. He urged Nigerians to exercise patience as the government conducts a thorough investigation into the allegations.

In a statement personally signed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, the government acknowledged the concerns raised by the public regarding the reported payment of funds into a private account by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. The government, under President Tinubu’s leadership, emphasized its transparency, accountability, and commitment to utilizing public funds effectively for the benefit of Nigerians.
