Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima have been awarded the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) and the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), respectively.
The ceremony is currently taking place at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.

This event is part of the festivities planned for Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29, where he will succeed Muhammadu Buhari as president.
After the investiture, Tinubu and Shettima would receive the transitional documents.
Meanwhile, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, the majority leader of the House of Representatives, has been cleared of murder charges, according to information from the police and the Kano State Department of Public Prosecution.
According to the reports, there is insufficient evidence in the police case files to charge him with negligent homicide.

Musa A. Lawan, Kano State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, stated on Thursday, while briefing journalists on the findings and legal recommendations of the government on the criminal charges filed against the lawmaker, that available evidence contained in the police case diary indicated there was insufficient evidence to link Doguwa with the alleged offences, despite witnesses’ contradictory statements.
