Vice President Kashim Shettima has revealed that the President Bola Tinubu administration has subsidized the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage with N90 billion, amidst widespread economic hardship in the country. Shettima made this announcement at the inauguration of the 2024 National Hajj operation in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
The Vice President explained that the government had to intervene due to the fluctuation in foreign exchange rates, which posed a significant challenge in announcing the final hajj fare. He praised President Tinubu’s efforts to control the downward spiral of the local currency, which ultimately led to a reduction in the fare.

Shettima emphasized the importance of religious pilgrimage in transforming the lives of believers and acknowledged the government’s careful selection of administrators to manage the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. The Vice President urged pilgrims to continue praying for the success of the Tinubu administration, peace, and progress of the country. He emphasized that collective prayers and individual contributions are crucial for the prosperity of Nigeria.
