Betta Edu Suspended Amidst N585.2 Million Scandal: Tinubu Orders EFCC Investigation

Ngelale’s statement reads, “The President further directs the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to conduct a thorough investigation into all aspects of the financial transactions involving the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, as well as one or more agencies thereunder.
Edu has been directed to hand over to the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. Additionally, she is urged to fully cooperate with the investigating authorities during their inquiry.
President Tinubu has also formed a panel, led by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, to conduct a comprehensive diagnostic on the financial architecture and framework of the social investment programs. The goal is to reform relevant institutions and programs to eliminate institutional frailties and regain public confidence.
These directives from President Tinubu are effective immediately, and there is a clear message that no one is above the law as investigations into financial irregularities continue.
