IGP Monitoring Unit Invites Nollywood Actress Tonto Dikeh Over Defamation, Forgery.

The IGP Monitoring Unit in Abuja invited a popular Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, in connection with an ongoing investigation into allegations of criminal defamation and cyberbullying, as well as forgery.

An invitation dated August 5, signed by one A.A. Elleman as head of the IGP Monitoring Unit, said her name “prominently appeared” in the investigation that prompted the invitation.

The letter read in part, “This office is investigating a case of criminal defamation, forgery, falsehood, cyberbullying, and criminal conversion reported to the Inspector-General of Police, wherein your name and others feature prominently.

 

In view of the above, you are hereby invited to interview with the undersigned upon the request by SP Aminu Abdullahi Sokoto, dated 7th August 2024, at 1000hrs, to shed more light on these allegations.

On Friday, Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed that Dikeh had been invited following a petition levelled against her. He said the actress was invited to react to the claims and has since been released as the investigation continues.

“She was only invited to respond to a petition filed against her, and she has since left the unit, while the investigation continues,” he said.

The investigation is currently on, and Dikeh’s involvement has become a major talk of the town because she is an entertainment star. Further details are expected as the case develops.
