A tragic incident has occurred at a workplace in Lagos, where a 25-year-old contract worker, whose identity has not been disclosed, tragically ended his life by jumping into a scorching iron melting pot. The shocking event took place at a company located within the Industrial Scheme of Odogunyan, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
The incident was confirmed on Sunday by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command. According to Hundeyin, the company’s safety officer reported the incident to the Sagamu Road Police Division on August 3, around 6:00 p.m.

The police spokesperson detailed that the worker, who was assigned to the AOD Section of the company, ran towards the iron melting pot at approximately 3:15 p.m. that day. The pot, which is strictly off-limits during operation, became the site of a desperate and ultimately unsuccessful attempt by his colleagues to prevent the tragedy. Despite their efforts, the young man jumped into the pot, where his body was completely melted by the extreme heat.

SP Hundeyin stated that detectives from the station promptly visited the scene, and the deceased’s family has been informed of the incident. The police have initiated an investigation to uncover the circumstances leading to this heartbreaking event.
