Tribunal Dismisses All of Peter Obi’s Petitions Against Bola Tinubu’s Victory

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has rendered its verdict, dismissing all of Peter Obi’s petitions challenging Bola Tinubu’s presidential victory. The tribunal’s decision addresses a range of issues brought forth by Peter Obi and the Labour Party (LP) in their pursuit of overturning the election results.

The key elements of Peter Obi’s petitions included allegations of INEC’s non-compliance with the 2022 Electoral Act, concerns about the percentage of votes secured by Tinubu in the Abuja Federal Capital Territory (FCT), questions surrounding Tinubu’s forfeiture of $460,000 for narcotics, claims of over-voting and vote-swapping in favor of Bola Tinubu, and finally, the alleged double nominations of Kashim Shettima.

The tribunal’s ruling, delivered after careful consideration of these multiple petitions, concluded that they lacked sufficient merit to challenge the legitimacy of Bola Tinubu’s presidential victory.

Regarding INEC’s compliance with the 2022 Electoral Act, the tribunal found that the evidence presented did not establish a substantial breach of the law that would warrant the nullification of the election results.

Claims of over-voting and vote-swapping were also examined, and the tribunal found no conclusive evidence to substantiate these allegations.

Finally, the issue of double nominations of Kashim Shettima was addressed, with the tribunal concluding that it did not present sufficient grounds for challenging the overall election results.
