UBA Scoops Nine Awards at The Bankers Awards 2023, Affirming Its Global Standing
United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has yet again showcased its international prowess, securing nine esteemed awards at The Bankers Awards 2023, hosted by The Banker Magazine, a Financial Times publication, known as the world’s premier business newspaper.
At a ceremony held in London, United Kingdom, the bank received an array of prestigious awards, including the highly sought-after Bank of the Year Africa 2023, cementing UBA’s status as the premier financial institution across the African continent.
The bank’s subsidiaries were also recognized, bagging the Bank of the Year award in eight out of the 20 African countries where UBA operates.

These winning subsidiaries include UBA Cameroon, UBA Chad, UBA Ghana, UBA Cote d’Ivoire, UBA Mozambique, UBA Congo, UBA Sierra Leone, and UBA Tanzania, illustrating the bank’s extensive reach and impact across diverse African markets. Remarkably, this marks the second time in three years that UBA has clinched the regional award as the best bank in Africa, following its victory in 2021.
Oliver Alawuba, the Group Managing Director of UBA, received the awards on behalf of the bank, expressing gratitude and excitement for the recognitions.
Alawuba highlighted that these accolades reaffirm UBA’s commitment to solidifying its leadership position in Africa and delivering exceptional value to its stakeholders.
