University of Abuja Introduces Mandatory Drug Test for Prospective Students

In a groundbreaking move to address the issue of drug abuse among students, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’allah, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, announced a new requirement for prospective students: a mandatory drug test before admission.

This initiative was revealed during the 27th Pre-Convocation briefing held in Abuja on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

Prof. Na’allah emphasized the university’s commitment to creating a healthy and drug-free learning environment.

Under this new policy, aspiring students will be required to undergo a drug screening process as part of the admission procedure.

The Vice Chancellor clarified that the aim of this measure is not punitive, but rather preventive and rehabilitative.

Furthermore, the University of Abuja has established a partnership with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to support students who may be struggling with substance abuse issues.

It is important to note that students who test positive for drug use will not face immediate expulsion from the university.
