The Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu has made it known that she will mobilize against Peter Obi in case he contests for a vice presidential position come 2027.
In a video which surfaced on Monday, September 16, Yesufu asked why the most qualified persons are being thrown to the backburner, tweeting against the reported plans of Obi to be a vice president under another candidate.
The Labour Party presidential candidate, Obi, had earlier indicated readiness to work with other politicians, including Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, ahead of the 2023 elections.
He said, “I’m ready to work with anyone who wants to take the people out of poverty,” reiterating that whatever collaboration would be for the interest of the citizens to make life better and not just to win an election.
Obi explained in an interview with News Central: “Quite frankly, for me, I’m not desperate to be Nigerian president. I am desperate to see Nigeria work. If I see people who can do the work better, I will.”
But he recently told reporters that reports he would accept a vice presidential ticket were a distortion of his statement.
Obi said, “I do not want to be one of those preoccupied with 2027 while Nigerians are suffering from hunger, poverty, insecurity, and other pressing challenges.
