‘I Haven’t Endorsed Obi’ – Wike Debunks Reports
Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, gave a speech on Friday to clarify his stance on Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate for president.
Wike clarified that by telling Obi that he is presidential material, he is not endorsing the former governor of Anambra State’s bid for the presidency.

This online newspaper gathered that Wike made this claim on Friday in Port Harcourt, the state capital, during an interview with journalist.
“If I tell Obi that he is a presidential material, does that mean an endorsement?” Wike asked when discussing his preferred presidential candidate.
Recall that the rivers state governor had promised to tell Nigerians his preferred presidential candidate ahead of the upcoming 2023 election, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.

Recall that in 2022, Wike and the other disgruntled governors who had been at odds with PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar declared they would choose their preferred candidate for president in January 2023.
However, a journalist questioned Wike about his potential running mate for the 2023 election and brought up his promise to make the announcement.
